HOW TO REACH NEW YORK CRUISE TERMINAL

Please note that New York City has multiple cruise terminals. MSC Cruises’ ships dock at Pier 12 of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal when stopping in New York. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal address for MSC passengers is 72 Bowne Street, Pier 12, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Located on the west coast of Brooklyn, it’s several miles south of downtown Manhattan.

The car park at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is located directly in front of the terminal entrance. When entering the gates to Pier 12, you will see the car park on your left, with the cruise terminal on your right. The entrance to the cruise terminal is located on Bowne Street, accessible from the Bowne Street and Imlay Street intersection.

 In New York City, there are two main train stations: Penn Station and Grand Central Station. They are both in Manhattan. To get to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal from either station, the easiest way is to take a taxi. It usually takes about 35 minutes, depending on traffic.

You can also use public transportation. From Penn Station, take the A or C subway lines to Jay Street-MetroTech, then hop on the B61 bus from Smith Street/Livingstone Street to Van Brunt Street/King Street (via Red Hook). The cruise terminal is just a short walk from there.

If you’re coming from Grand Central Station, take the 4 or 5 subway lines to Borough Hall. From there, take the B61 bus from Boerum Place/Joralemon Street to Van Brunt Street/King Street (via Red Hook). It’s about a five-minute walk from the bus stop to the cruise terminal.

To reach the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal from any of New York’s main airports—JFK, Newark, or LaGuardia—the easiest way is to request an MSC transfer service or book a taxi. It usually takes between 50 and 80 minutes, depending on traffic.

You can also use public transportation. From JFK, take the AirTrain JFK to Howard Beach Station, then subway line A to Jay Street-MetroTech, followed by the B61 bus to Van Brunt Street/King Street, which is a short walk from the terminal.

If you’re coming from Newark, take the AirTrain P4 to AirTrain Newark Liberty International Station, then a train to Penn Station. From there, take subway line A or C to Jay Street-MetroTech and the B61 bus to the cruise terminal.

From LaGuardia, take the Q70-SBS bus to Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street, then subway line F to Jay Street-MetroTech. Finally, take the B61 bus to the cruise terminal.

New York has a humidcontinental climate, with hot summers, cold winters and moderate rainfall for much of the year.

The hottest months in New York are typically July and August, which have average daily high temperatures of 29°C.

January tends to be the coldest month, with average daily highs of 4°C and daily low temperatures averaging around -3°C. During New York’s winters, visitors should prepare for cold temperatures and potential snowfall.

It’s advisable to pack warm clothing, including coatshatsgloves, and scarves, to stay comfortable while exploring the city or embarking on a cruise from New York. Rainfall is relatively constant throughout the year, although this tends to peak in May. October is typically the driest month.

While New York is sometimes considered an expensive city to visit, there’s no shortage of free things to do.

Some of the best free things to do in New York include walking around Central Park and making the most of its vast green spaces, ponds and shady trees. Stroll through the park or explore by bike, or kick back with a picnic and enjoy watching city life wind down a notch.

New York is also filled with world-class museums and art galleries, many of which offer free entry or pay-what-you-want entry on certain days or times, such as the Guggenheim and the Jewish Museum. Others, like the Bronx Museum of the Arts, are permanently free. You can also get fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty aboard the Staten Island Ferry, which is free of charge.

Thanks to its position on the Atlantic coast, New York City has a number of beaches to be enjoyed. The most well-known is Coney Island Beach, which is loved by families thanks to its amusement park, boardwalk and swimming opportunities. Adjoining Coney Island Beach to the east is Brighton Beach, another wide, sandy stretch, but with a noticeably quieter feel. Both beaches are in south Brooklyn and are two of the closest beaches to the cruise terminal. Further afield, other popular beaches can be found in Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.
