Spend about 5 hours amidst natural beauty and a whisky tasting in the beautiful surroundings of Powerscourt Gardens. Leaving the ship, enjoy an approximately 45-minute drive to Powerscourt Estate, located in Enniskerry and framed by mountains. Spend about an hour and a half here to discover the beauty of its vast gardens, among the largest in Europe. Stroll through the extensive park, past terraces, statues, fountains, and ornamental ponds. While it is true that the best place to admire the garden is undoubtedly the 244-metre-long terrace, which offers striking views of the vale, it is the whole park that will fascinate you with its hidden paths, the variety of plants, from azaleas to magnolias and majestic trees such as sequoias and chestnut trees. A fabulous place! A 15-minute walk will take you to the nearby distillery, located in the Old Mill House, one of the oldest buildings on the estate, designed and commissioned by Forsyths, a Scottish family-run business that has been manufacturing distillery equipment since 1890. Considered one of the finest distilleries in the world, it produces a wide variety of whiskies under the Fercullen brand. With an expert guide, enjoy a 90-minute in-depth tour of the distillery, discovering the production processes, plant facilities including the heart of the distillery, the custom-designed copper stills. And to complete your experience, take part in a tasting of three types of Fercullen whiskies paired with locally produced artisan foods (cheese and charcuterie). The best way to end this exclusive adventure amidst Irish nature. The 60-minute bus drive back to Dun Laoghaire concludes your experience.

A 45-minute drive takes you from the port to the Humbold viewpoint to admire the splendid view of the fertile Orotava Valley. Over time, sugar cane, grapes and bananas have become the dominant crops on the island and are still harvested using traditional techniques. To fully understand how crops are grown and packaged for export, your next destination will be a private banana plantation. The workers will describe the process before serving you a taste of banana liquor. Starting from the port, the approximately one hour and 45 minute walking itinerary allows you to discover not only some of the city’s famous sights, from the Teatro Verdi, to Via della Peschiera – with its taverns and literary cafés – to Piazza Unità d’Italia, the splendid square open to the sea, but also to pass through some of the places that have seduced artists and historical figures over the centuries. You will discover the Roman past by passing through Via delle Mura and Arco di Riccardo, one of the oldest pharmacy opened in Italy in 1805 in Piazza Cavana, but also Piazza Hortis with the bookshops of Italo Svevo and James Joyce and Via San Nicolò, with its elegant buildings and the antiquarian bookshop of Umberto Saba and the nearby statue of the poet and writer. Your guide will provide you with anecdotes and historical information, discovering the customs, traditions but also the contradictions of this fascinating city. And after so much walking, you will have a delightful break of about an hour in a local winery in the centre for an aperitif with typical products and a glass of wine while listening to a narration of what you are enjoying. At the end of this journey through history, culture, and gastronomy, you can choose to return to the port with your guide or stay in the centre and return to the ship later on your own.
